teaksouls Adventure Blog ( a Sailing Diary)

‘teaksouls’ website (and our nickname) began as a way to share what life was like aboard our sailboat, Alexandra. We both love teak, this boat had it, and had a lot of solid qualities to offer. We dreamed of living on a boat ever since we first met, and even though things didn’t go quite the same way the vision first inspired, we set some goals, changed them a bit, and found a way to make the dream happen.

We are happy that we had these ten years living aboard our heavy, double-ender. She’s now enjoying other happy adventures with her new owners on the west coast.

Upon our permanent return to our Kentucky home in Murray, we kept our ‘nickname’, built a studio in the back yard (Two Doves Studio), and started doing art together. I guess that could be another story.  embarassed

Duprasses

Duprasses

The imaginary term “Duprass” was first coined by Kurt Vonnegut in his book Cat’s Cradle. The word became part of our vocabulary (and our life) since reading the book so many years ago. Lately, it has inspired the “Duprass” series of paintings and drawings.

To us, Duprass means:
Two people that are a Team of one.
